This book analyzes successive governments' management of the AIDS epidemic in South Africa. The book covers the years 1982-2005, using expert thinking regarding public policy making to identify gaps in the public sector's handling of the epidemic. PIETER FOURIE teaches Politics at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2003-2004 he worked for UNAIDS in London as a researcher on a scenario-building project regarding the impact of AIDS in Africa over the next 20 years, and he remains involved in a number of AIDS projects in South Africa and Southern Africa.
