About Us - The Scholarly and Reference Division

The Scholarly and Reference Division of Palgrave Macmillan is one of the foremost English-language scholarly publishers in the world and is pre-eminent in academic publishing in the Humanities and Social, Political and Economic Sciences.

The Division publishes high-quality monographs, reference books, scholarly editions of classic works, high-level textbooks, conference volumes and other edited collections. It publishes in most subjects, including Politics and International Studies, Economics (including the works of Keynes) and Russian and East European studies while the Division's literary list extends from Hardy and Yeats to Cultural Studies and Women's writing. The Division also publishes biographies and current affairs, interdisciplinary subjects, non-fiction books with a general, as well as a specialist, appeal and also academic books aimed at a more general market.

The Division publishes numerous series in association with leading organisations such as the International Economic Association and the International Institute for Strategic Studies, and with many universities including St Antony's College, Oxford, the University of Reading, the University of Southampton, and the University of Warwick.

About 500 new books and 25 new editions are published by the Academic Division annually, and an in-print backlist of around 1500 titles is maintained. All titles are published in hardcover editions and some also in paperback.
