About this site
This site is designed to provide support and extension activities for
all users of the fourth edition of Bilton et al: Introductory
Sociology, whether lecturers organising their teaching around the book, or
students using it while studying sociology for the first time at advanced level.
The site is divided into two areas, for the lecturer and student. While some sections
of the lecturer zone are designated for exclusive use by adopters of the text and are
therefore password-protected, users are invited to explore all other areas of the site as
they please.
About the book
Introductory Sociology is one of
the most ambitious, scholarly and popular textbooks in its field. This welcome new edition
builds on the strengths of its predecessor in its thematic coherence, clarity of
exposition and analytical depth. It is carefully structured to cover all the main
substantive topics studied at an introductory level within a framework that engages with
exciting contemporary debates about modernity, globalisation and social identity.
