• What are the current developments in media technologies and how are they impacting on the way that individuals and groups are interacting with the media?
  
• In what ways can we say that men and women or different ethnic groups have different experiences of the media? Do any differences matter in terms of the effects of the media?
  
• Is there such a thing as a 'digital divide'? If it does exist, how important is it and for what reasons might it be important?
  
• How difficult is it to ascertain the reactions of an audience to a particular media message? How might sociologists get round any difficulties in accessing media effects?
