Oral presentation

The oral presentation, done individually or in a team, is another popular approach used by lecturers to evaluate students – especially as it develops oral communication and leadership skills, both important qualities for students’ future careers.

However, preparing a presentation can be nerve-wracking and intimidating, and the challenge is to prevent student absenteeism and boredom when students lead presentations on OB topics/cases. There is a tendency for students to believe they can only learn OB from their lecturer.

The more the presenters involve the audience in the case/problem analysis, the more stimulating the interaction will be. The oral presentation guide should give students ideas and tips on how to do this. It may also be useful to provide them with advice on the kinds of visual aids (e.g., PowerPoint, transparencies, posters, props) that you would like them to use.
