An audio-visual presentation introducing the process of change management presented in chapter 2

In chapter two of The Theory and Practice of Change Management a conceptual model is presented which provides a framework that will help you think about change as a process and help you act effectively to bring about change.

The model draws on opens systems theory and presents change management as a process that involves, for example, recognizing the need for change, diagnosing what has to be changed, planning, taking action to bring about change, and embedding new ways of working.

This process is not rational and linear. Often the endpoint of the change is not known at the outset, and the process cannot be managed according to a simple recipe-driven template. More often than not change is a complex and unpredictable process that involves managing competing demands, often with limited resources and uncertain levels of commitment from those who can affect outcomes. The content of parts one to eight of The Theory and Practice of Change Management elaborate and discuss key elements of this process.

The model is discussed in chapter two, and then model is referred to in the introduction to each part of the book and a logo (depicting the model) is included at the beginning of each chapter to show how that chapter relates to the process model and to material presented elsewhere in the book.
