About the editors

RICHARD BALME is Professor at Sciences Po, Paris, and in the School of Government, Peking University, China. He is Director of the Sciences Po program in China. He teaches and writes on European Union politics and on globalization and policy-making. His recent publications include L'Action Collective en Europe (2002) and Collective Action and European Democracy.

BRIAN BRIDGES is Professor of Politics at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. Previously he was Head of the East Asia Programme at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London. He teaches, writes and broadcasts on the politics and international relations of the Asian Pacific region and on Europe's relations with that region. His books include Europe and the Challenge of the Asia Pacific and Korea after the Crash: The Politics of Economic Recovery.
