The 2016 Editor's Choice is the paper ‘A new connectivity index for container ports’ by John J. Bartholdi (Georgia Institute of Technology, USA), Pisit Jarumaneeroj (Chulalongkorn University, Thailand) and Amar Ramudhin (University of Hull, U.K.). The paper can be viewed here and is openly accessible to all.
The MEL Editor's Choice is selected annually by the Editor, to acknowledge certain aspects of scientific publishing of great importance to MEL. These include direct applicability of research results; readership impact of abstract and conclusions; paper structure; succinctness; and command of the English language. The winner(s) receives a certificate and a token prize of €100. The Award is not based on peer review results, which are equally rigorous for all MEL papers. Prospective authors are advised to keep these aspects in mind while drafting their papers.
