How we promote impact

Social Science has an important role to play in society and Palgrave has a history of publishing work that has made an impact – in terms of shaping policymaking and publishing research on key issues of policy concern; the influencing of professional practice; and in terms of informing public debate beyond the academy. We also publish work written by scholars with close ties to policy and other government advisory roles, as well as those who work in both academic and practitioner settings.

This experience means that when it comes to deciding on our publishing strategy for titles with the potential for wider impact, we consider the format, positioning and marketing plans of new titles very carefully, involving Editorial, Marketing, Sales and Publicity teams in the decision-making process.

We want to do more to get our academics' research into the hands of policy makers and one of the first ways we're doing this is by identifying opportunities for us to bring academics and policy-makers together. Check our Social Sciences Events page for details of upcoming events that we are involved with.
