Casebooks Series
Series Editors: A E Dyson

Casebooks fill a gap in the study of English literary criticism for both teacher and student. Much of their popularity is due to the way they provide easy access to material that is otherwise often difficult to find, and they act as a springboard for further reading and study. Teachers and lecturers can use them as a basis for lessons and tutorials, while students find them helpful as guides to variation in literary criticism and as background reading. But it should be emphasised that Casebooks are intended to inspire the student to read the novel, poem or play and to make his or her own appraisal of it. These classic casebooks are complemented by the more contemporary criticism to be found in the New Casebooks series.
