Chapter 10 Wound management
The purpose of this chapter is to explore the nursing management of wounds.
After working through it, you should be able to:
- Identify and discuss some of the issues surrounding accountability in wound management
- Define the term ewoundf and discuss wound classification
- Describe the use of risk assessment tools in your current area of work
- Describe the recognised stages of the healing process, linking this to the structure and
function of healthy skin
- Describe the factors affecting wound healing
Describe and explain each element of the optimum environment for wound healing
- Describe how each stage of the nursing process may facilitate the nursing management of
wounds.
