The recent financial crisis has troubled the US, Europe, and beyond, and is indicative of the integrated world in which we live. Today, transactions take place with the use of foreign currencies, and their values affect the nations' economies and their citizens' welfare. Exchange Rates and International Financial Economics provides readers with the historic, theoretical, and practical knowledge of these relative prices among currencies. While much of the previous work on the topic has been simply descriptive or theoretical, Kallianiotis gives a unique and intimate understanding of international exchange rates and their place in an increasingly globalized world.

Ioannis N. Kallianiotis is Professor of Finance in the Economics and Finance Department of the Arthur J. Kania School of Management at the University of Scranton. He has a BA in Business Economics from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (1978); an MA in Business Economics from Queens College (1982); an MPhil in Financial Economics from the Graduate Center, CUNY (1984); and a PhD in Finance (International Finance and Monetary Theory and Financial Institutions) from the Graduate Center and Baruch College, CUNY. He is the co-editor of Balance of Payments Adjustment (2000), has published extensively in academic journals, and his interviews and articles have been published on Politico.com, in the Washington Times, Times Leader, Scranton Times, and Northeast Business Journal.

"Currency movement can make or break a corporation in today's global business environment. As such, this book serves as a useful tool for students, scholars and professionals in search of a practical understanding of the forces behind international exchange rate movements.
