Philosophy RSS feedPalgrave Macmillan has a distinguished and fast-growing philosophy list with a wide range of works, from introductory textbooks and general interest titles to research monographs reflecting the very latest work in the field. As of 2007, we have a range of new series including Mike Beaney’s History of Analytic Philosophy, John Protevi’s New Directions in Cognitive Science and Miguel de Beistegui’s Forum for French Philosophy. Alongside these are several longstanding series such as Gary Banham's Renewing Philosophy and John Hick's well-established Library of Philosophy and Religion. Market-leading textbooks such as Bryan Greetham's invaluable Philosophy, and Julian Baggini's Philosophy: Key Texts and Philosophy: Key Themes provide the student and general reader with accessible and engaging introductions to the field.
As part of the same Macmillan company which has been publishing since 1843, our backlist boasts a variety of classic texts by authors such as William James, John Dewey, Emile Durkheim, Bernard Bosanquet, James Baldwin, Friedrich Waismann and A.J. Ayer to name but a few. New to the list this year are reissues of several classic works from the Macmillan archives – a reissue of Immanuel Kant's Critique of Pure Reason in its seminal translation by Norman Kemp-Smith, accompanied by a new extended bibliography by Kant scholar Gary Banham, as well as a three volume centenary series of works by Henri Bergson, including his Creative Evolution, Mind-Energy and An Introduction to Metaphysics, each fully reset and accompanied by critical introductions from Keith Ansell Pearson and John Mullarkey. 2007 will also see the publication of Michel Foucault’s Security, Territory, Population, the fourth volume in our series of books deriving from his lectures a the Collège de France.
