Description

The advent of new technologies is said to change the world of work dramatically. But is gender changing as well?
Gender is often seen in rigid ways: people are just men and women. This informative and thoughtful book will change how gender is seen at work. The book highlights how gender is performed in rigid but also fluid ways. It does so by exploring how gender is done in contemporary high tech work. The book develops an innovative approach to study gender as a performance. It makes use of a unique discourse analytic method to analyze performing gender and to show how changes at work are intertwined with changes in gender relations. The book provides academics and practitioners with a cutting edge view on how to make sense of gender in the changing workplace.
