In its third edition, this text remains an insightful and wide-ranging introduction to all aspects of child abuse and the practical strategies available for prevention, intervention and support. More emphasis on evidence-based work helps practitioners understand abused children's perspectives and their sometimes seemingly paradoxical behaviour.
'[A] comprehensive and insightful book which brings together theory, practice and up-to-date research...a useful addition to any personal library or resource room.' - British Journal of Social Work
'From the start the reader is drawn in to Working with Abused Children with admirable ease by Celia's concise writing style and logical order of content...I would recommend this book to anyone working with children across the older professional and voluntary boundaries as it provides practical ways that we can all help abused children.' - Margaret Simms, Social Policy and Social Work
Review of the second edition:
'The strength of this book is that it is clearly written, covers a comprehensive range of factors relevant to child abuse and makes a compelling case for appropriate services to assist abused children and their families. Doyle's extensive practice experience is in evidence throughout and she provides many tested practical suggestions for inexperienced practitioners on how to approach such work and avoid likely pitfalls.' - Peter Dale, Community Care
