Description

The role and contribution of smaller enterprises is acknowledged throughout the globe. The primary scope of this book is to explore the operations of the venture capital sector in supporting the growth and development of SMEs. Another theme explores the role of Islamic finance as a possible alternative source of risk capital. These topics are considered in the context of India, a fascinating country of many contrasts and enormous economic potential. The book is underpinned by a major empirical study of the venture capital industry in that country. A distinctive focus is the analysis of techniques used by venture capitalists to value, structure and monitor their investments. the book also draws on a comprehensive literature review, as well as secondary data and information from specialist research institutions and the financial media. The book fills gaps in academic knowledge and the material should be of great interest to students, policy makers and practitioners.
