Written by 7 leaders in the field, this text covers the growing canon of cognitive neuroscience and makes clear the future challenges. Richly illustrated and including helpfull pedagogy, each copy comes with Sylvius 4, offering an interactive tutorial on human neuroanatomy and a digital atlas of human brain structure.

Neuroscience guides students through the challenges and excitement of this rapidly changing field. The book's length and accessibility of its writing are a successful combination that has proven to work equally well for medical students and in undergraduate neuroscience courses.

This textbook provides a true introduction to functional magnetic
resonance imaging (fMRI), which has become the dominant research
technique in cognitive neuroscience. Although there is extraordinary
interest in fMRI among researchers and instructors alike, two problems
have hampered the study of this technique. First, existing texts are
targeted toward practicing scientists in the field and assume a level
of expertise not possessed by most students. Second, most students do
not have access to fMRI equipment and data, so they have no
opportunity to gain hands-on experience. This textbook overcomes these
limitations by presenting a comprehensive overview of all aspects of
fMRI, designed with undergraduate students, graduate students and
beginning researchers in mind. The authors' goal was to create a book
that is sufficiently scientifically rigorous for scientists in the
field, but also accessible enough to be easily read and understood by
beginning students. The book can be used as the primary text for
classes in fMRI, or as a secondary text for cognitive neuroscience,
research methods or other courses.

Building on the strengths of its predecessors, it continues to offer an illustration program and a very broad perspective - encompassing lucid descriptions of behaviour, evolutionary history, development, proximate mechanisms and applications. The fifth edition hones students' critical thinking ability - yet remains reader-friendly throughout.

The new edition of Kolb and Whishaw's text exploring the biological basis of behaviour, communicates the excitement of the tremendous advances in the field over the past decade. Drawing on their extensive teaching and research experience, the authors organise their text around the key questions that intrigue brain researchers and students alike. By emphasising the clinical aspects of neuroscience the authors continually reinforce the relevance of the field to human experience, while providing basic neurobiological information of specific interest to students pursuing careers in social sciences, life sciences, or health professions.
