A Gallery Of Headshots and Resumés

The eight photos and accompanying resumés in this gallery were selected by this book’s co-author, James Calleri, as particularly effective in representing the young professional actors that the Calleri Casting office has called in for auditions in the past year. In brief captions, Calleri explains why these photos captured the attention of him and his casting colleagues.

Anjali Bhimani

A truly captivating shot. Open, attractive, femine and sexy. Makes good use of ¾ body shot. Courtesy of Laura Rose/ Hoebermann Studio

Finn Wittrock

Interesting, youthful. Makes great use of the true close-up. The eyes zero right on at you. The t-shirt works here too. Courtesy of Joseph Moran

Rafi Silver

Charming, sexy, classy shot. Very relaxed. Puts you at ease. Wearing a blazer so it’s a more upscale look - but still an easy, not up-tight one. Courtesy of Robert Mannis

Angel Desai

Great use of lighting. And the very white light background makes it pop. Another “true” close-up with winning sex appeal. Courtesy of Peter Hurley

Johnny Ramey

Straightforward- perhaps the most “standard” of the ones here. Direct, confident, no-bullshit: Just a simple great shot with a nice use of shadow and light too. Courtesy of Joseph Moran

Paolo Andino

Another great use of the ¾ body shot. Shows him off well, with a terrific use of lighting and background that adds to – not detracts from - the actor portrayed. Courtesy of Roland Bello

Cheryl Lynn Bowers

The eyes, the eyes! It’s almost as if she is peering into the lens. Great color composition with the green blouse, blue eyes, and blonde hair. Courtesy of Phillip Kessler

Matt Lauria

Another great standard. Lovely use of lighting, and the shadow adding complexity. An open, available, thoughtful point of view. Courtesy of Yolanda Perez

Concluding remarks: All of these are a far cry from the toothy commercial shot from the old days! All show a great point of view. Each actor seems to have a secret – and we want them to share it with us!
