About this book

This book provides a conceptual framework to understand and analyze the decline of the telecommunications industry and the rise of information industries. This includes information distribution, banking, advertising, computing, etc. and will use a value based perspective to show the industry shaping dynamics. The integrative framework will cover issues relevant to all information industries including network externalities, lock in and switching costs, cost structure analysis, transactions costs and infomediaries.

About the authors

JOAN ENRIC RICART I COSTA is Professor of General Management at IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Barcelona, Spain. He is Associate Dean for the Research and Doctoral Programme and Chairman of the General Management Department and has substantial experience of teaching and research and many publications. He is currently President of the European Academy of Management.

BRIAN SUBIRANA is Associate Professor at IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Barcelona, Spain. He holds a Doctorate in Philosophy in Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management. He teaches in-company programmes in management for companies such as SUN Microsystems, ING, Fortis, 3i, and Bertelsmann. Business Week ranks IESE No. 1 in the world for custom executive programmes.

JOSEP VALOR-SABATIER is Professor of Information Systems at IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Barcelona, Spain. He has a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he has also been Visiting Professor of Management and many publications.
