About this book

What are the filaments responsible for the consistency of cytoplasm and what are their roles in eukaryotic cells? These questions are examined by Linda and Bradshaw Amos in Molecules of the Cytoskeleton. Within the book are described the properties of the individual proteins of the cytoskeleton and of other molecules closely associated with it. Current theories of how such components intereact at molecular level during processes such as intracellular transport, translocation of whole cells, and cell division are analysed and critically discussed. The book is derived from a final year lecture course for undergraduates at Cambridge, but has been extended to a level suitable for graduate students and those beginning research.
