About this book

The text provides an elementary introduction to the mathematical description of wave motion. The only mathematics assumed is that which would be found in an `A' level calculus course. The book begins with a simple case of the vibration of a single particle and then considers two particle systems and normal modes. Vibration on strings and springs are then covered, and the book finishes with a description of general wave properties such as the Doppler effect and interference.
