About the authors
ROBERTA ASTOR MA, Cert Further & Higher Education, RNT, RNLD, RGN, RMN is currently working as a Staff Nurse in an intensive care acute mental health unit, Portsmouth Healthcare NHS Trust. She has been involved with Learning Disability nursing practice and education since 1973 and has worked as a practitioner, a clinical teacher, a researcher and a university lecturer, all within the Portsmouth area.
KAREN JEFFEREYS State Registered Dietician, MSc Applied Psychology (Learning Disabilites) is Chief Dietician, Portsmouth Healthcare NHS Trust. Karen manages a team of dieticians to provide a specialist service for children with learning difficulties. She has been responsible for initiating numerous service developments to improve the health of people with learning difficulties through diet and health promotion.
