Jonson is one of the most flamboyantly theatrical of Renaissance dramatists. This study focusses on Jonson's plays in performance - including his Elizabethan comedies, his tragedy Sejanus, and his masques, which throw into relief his better-known works such as Volpone and The Alchemist.
