About this book

Every mother and father is concerned about how to help her or his children to resist the temptations and pressures at school and amongst neighbourhood kids to get involved with petty crime or drugs. This book is about what parents should do from babyhood to teenage to cope with these hazards.

About the author

The late RICHARD CLUTTERBUCK gave over 450 radio and TV broadcasts, and wrote 19 books in his lifetime, the most recent being Drugs, Crime and Corruption (1995) and Public Safety and Civil Liberties (1997). He took an MA in Mechanical Sciences at Cambridge and a PhD in Politics at London University. He was a Major General in the Army and then taught at Exeter University where, among other things, he ran the admissions for his department. In researching this book he visited Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Turkey, Brazil, Peru, Singapore and the People's Republic of China. But above all he visited primary and secondary schools, special schools, police, social services, local authorities, the law courts and prisons in the UK.
