As an academic publisher, our content is, by nature, apolitical as we rely on systems of academic peer review to offer balanced and diverse perspectives. And yet, publishing itself can be political. In this video, Palgrave Editor Michelle Chen discusses various debates in the academic publishing industry that are inherently political debates, such as Open Access publishing and the ethics of paywalls, or the nature of peer review and the recognition of structural inequalities within academia itself.
