This book presents various national perspectives on the process of regionalization in order to get a more concrete understanding of its dynamics. It is dedicated to country studies from the South and explores to what extent the new regionalism can provide solutions to the challenges of globalization faced by the South. This is the third volume in The New Regionalism Series .

About the authors

BJÖRN HETTNE is Professor at the Department of Peace and Development, Göteborg University. He is the author of a number of books and articles on development theory, international political economy, European integration and ethnic relations.

ANDRAS INOTAI is Director-General of the Institute for World Economics, Budapest. Since February 1996 he has been Head of the Task force for Hungary's EU-integration Strategy; he was also a Staff Member of the World Bank, Washington, DC (1989-1991).

OSVALDO SUNKEL is Professor of Economics and Business Administration, and Director of the Center for Public Policy Analysis at the University of Chile. He is also special adviser to ECLAC.
