About this book

Feminist theory is interwoven with women's voices in this study of three consecutive Twentieth-century women's organisations, separate but affiliated to the Labour Party, which represented women workers, consumers and politicians, so that the totality of women's involvement in the Labour movement is considered.

About the author

CHRISTINE COLLETTE is a freelance scholar and lives in France. This, her seventh book, completes her study of women and the Labour movement that began with For Labour and For Women (Manchester University Press, 1989). The route led through trades unionism, a Labour Party parliamentary candidature, teaching General Studies to engineers and History and Women's Studies to graduates and undergraduates at Edge Hill University, where she became Reader in Class and Gender Studies.
