Access to our publications for those with a reading impairment

We are very happy to support access to our publications for those with a reading impairment.

More details on the electronic formats we can provide

In order to prevent file sharing and piracy, we only supply files to named members of staff at the user’s educational institution.

We are committed to working alongside the Publishers Association with government, educational institutions and charitable bodies, to try and bring about a significant improvement in the availability of accessible formats for the reading impaired.

Springer Nature wishes to thank Jisc for their valuable recommendations on many aspects of our accessibility workflows and policies.

RNIB Bookshare:

We supply files to RNIB Bookshare which is an online resource that provides UK curriculum materials in a range of accessible formats that can be read electronically or adapted to suit the personal reading needs of learners. The service enables learners who cannot read standard print, including those with dyslexia or sight loss, to read the same books at the same time as their peers, giving them the same educational opportunities.

With RNIB Bookshare you can access our full catalogue, and thousands of images in clear print and tactile formats for curriculum and leisure topics.

Visit rnibbookshare.org to set up your account and start downloading resources. Alternatively, you can contact the RNIB Bookshare team by emailing bookshare@rnib.org.uk or calling +44 (0)30 0303 8313. If you can't find the book you're looking for in the collection please complete the RNIB Bookshare book request form.

Requesters located in the USA and Canada:

Accessible versions of many books published by Springer Nature and its imprints are available through Bookshare (www.bookstore.org) who services educational institutions in the USA and Canada. Bookshare is the largest library in the world of accessible books for people with severe print disabilities (severe dyslexia, low-vision, blindness, or mobility impairment). Bookshare makes titles available in a wide variety of formats: Bookshare is an initiative of Benetech, a technology nonprofit based in Palo Alto, California, that provides technology solutions for social causes, including human rights and the environment in addition to literacy.
